2018

After the success of the events held the previous year, the organisers of Slick had to up their game. This came in two forms; Slick 2018 was expanded out to a whole week of rubbery events beginning on Monday and ending on Sunday and for the first time in our history, a Slick event was hosted outside The Laird Hotel with the Melbourne Rubbermen drinks taking place at Eagle Leather. Slick 2018 was again organised by Ben Riethmuller, Liam Clark and the new addition of Will Gauvin.

This year however, the number of contestants had dropped from the previous year and was now down to three. Three rubbermen competing for the third Melbourne Rubberman title - ironic.

The competition ran along a similar schedule to the previous year with the interviews again taking place again at the Laird Hotel on the Sunday preceding the competition and the night itself consisting of Rubber Image, Flesh and Fantasy & Talent Rounds.

For the first time this year however, excerpts from the interview rounds were made available online through social media to introduce each contestant during Slick week.

The Fantasy & Talent round in this year was again highly entertaining. Marc showed his true flagging colours with an homage to Star Wars, Nick lip-synched up a fierce storm to 'Defying Gravity' from the stage musical Wicked and Matthew performed an exquisite bondage scene inspired by the Britney Spears track 'Breathe on Me'.

At the end of the evening, Matthew was declared the winner of the competition and took over the reign as the third Melbourne Rubberman.
